On February 21, the Philip Kotler Center for ASEAN Marketing launched its first book, Think ASEAN! in Kinokuniya, Plaza Senayan. The event was jointly organized by Kinokuniya Bookstores and the book’s publisher, McGraw Hill, Asia. The turnout far exceeded our expectations with a full house and coverage by at least 10 medias, including MetroTV, Indonesia’s up-scale TV News channel.
Mr. Apichai Suchindah, Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation gave the keynote speech. The Ambassador of UNICEF for Indonesia, Mr Ferry Salim, and the Key Representative of the Secretary-General of ASEAN were also present. Mr Hans Mandalas, the organizer for Kotler’s ASEAN trip to Jakarta was present too.
Think ASEAN! written by Philip Kotler, Hermawan Kartajaya, and Hooi Den Huan, highlights ASEAN as one community which shares similar cultures and an ASEAN market that has huge potential. In this book, the writers present a fresh perspective for all marketers that the next trend will be regionalization, not globalization. The book gives many tips and tricks for local and national companies who want to grab the ASEAN market. To multinationals, the writers came up with suggestions on how to strengthen its position in the ASEAN market.
